HP Z1 Workstation Review: Pretty, Powerful, and Pricey, but Not Perfect

The new HP Z1 Workstation is the most attractive, most powerful, and most expensive all-in-one PC I've ever seen. And that isn't an exaggeration: This all-in-one workstation, the first of its kind, has a gorgeous 27-inch edge-to-edge glass screen,...

Very powerful ; Bright and beautiful screen

Inconvenient port placement ; No touchscreen option

The expensive Z1 all-in-one has both brains and beauty, but it also has some issues that are impossible to ignore.

HP Z1 G3 review

A powerful workstation that does quick work of anything you throw at it

Fantastic performance ; Compact form factor ; Easy to upgrade

Base can't rotate left/right ; GPU performance will fall short slightly against desktop GPUs

If you're in the market for a powerful workstation but want something that's space saving and easy to upgrade, then the HP Z1 G3 is your ideal match. The HP Z1 G3 appeals to a very particular subset of professional users, i.e. those that are looking...

HP Z1 G3 (2016) Workstation review

HP has produced a highly impressive all-in-one workstation

4K display ; Excellent performance ; Very compact

Limited graphics upgradability ; Limited use case

As with the Z1 G2, the G3 is not quite enough to make desktop workstations obsolete. The price of 4K monitors has dropped which means that you will get a base unit workstation with a monitor for under a grand if you shop around.

HP Z1 Workstation Review

This summer HP has brought on a beast of a business machine in the Z1 all-in-one Workstation , complete with an upgradable set of innards and all-in-one style. The display is a massive LED-backlit 27-inch IPS panel at 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution and...

This computer is a fabulous choice for an office in need of massive displays and Windows 7 (or Windows 8 later this year). You’ve got a perfectly solid build, HP has made the entire structure out of high-end components, and you’ll be able to modify...

HP Z1 Workstation

The Z1 workstation really brings HP's engineering skill to the fore. However, the large markup on workstation parts means that a significantly cheaper machine will outperform it, and high-end graphics cards are left out in the cold.

User serviceable all-in-one. Good display.

No high-end graphics SKU. Stand mechanism is clunky. Ports on the rear are incredibly difficult to get access to. Better performance on consumer all-in-ones for considerably less.

The Z1 workstation really brings HP's engineering skill to the fore. The large markup on workstation parts though means a significantly cheaper machine will outperform it.
