Shuttle G2

this was shipped in its retail Shuttle box, not hidden safely in a PACKING BOX. the (Shuttle) box did not have the factory Shuttle seal and the plastic bag inside had no seal as well. I suspect this to have been a factory defect, used, or a defective...

great design, easy to put together. has its own heatsink/fan setup and takes the guesswork out of how the ones that come with Intel processors snap into place.

the mouse stays lit up even when the Shuttle PC is shut down. this seems to be a comon trait amoung the Shuttle G2s. this one has some cosmetic damage where the cover don't line up right with the inner case making it look somewhat shiffed to the right...

Shuttle SG31G2S

Pentium D 925 // 40GB IDE HDD (till 320GB SATA upgrade) // 2GB G.Skill DDR2-800 // BFG 7600GT

Excellent barebone unit! Supports up to 4GB of DDR2 800. Supports Pentium Ds all the way to Core 2 Quads! It's very fast and I haven't even hooked up a SATA hard drive yet! I installed my extra 7600GT in the PCIe slot and it works fantasically!

Doesn't actually support the Pentium D 805 I had wanted to put in it. It just doesn't boot with it. It's a very nice barebone unit all around though! That's the only problem I've ever had.

Bought another one

Since it is even quieter with that HiPRO ps, I will overlook that fact. Still awesome and stable. Still hard to find silver drives.

This one, probably cause it came with a BIOS dated earlier this year, has quieter fan settings than the earlier one I built. It now uses the same HiPRO power supply as the other XPCs that use them. All XPCs have active PFC for not wasting energy over...

It has a special edition cooler to celebrate Shuttle XPCs being green. It's the same heat pipe but without any nickel coating on the pipes. You call it a special edition model for this year ; I call that saving a few dollars perhaps and not passing on...

Love the silver

They should ditch the IDE setup and just add another SATA cable. Added optical out and works well in Linux, SuSE 10.3. Worked fine with 2 2GB 800mhz Transcend RAM. I bought the open box version here, so it may say I didn't buy it from newegg.com.

Classic 2nd generation silver design. Near perfect layout. Many improvements since my first Shuttle the SS40G. Very slight buzz to power supply fan but still quiet. Overall the system is a work of art and design. Only time fan cranked up was running 2...

Hard to find any silver optical drives. The buttons on the front have to be pushed in far to register, don't remember that on the first gen 2 Shuttle. Long cable for powering the drives is only Molex. It does have a 2 SATA power cable ; it just runs...

Oustanding

Pretty sure I am going to get a 9800gt in there when they are released. Since they are 65nm process I imagine the power supply will hold up with the reports from folks with 8800gt's in similar setups.

Able to pack a 9600gt, e8400, 4gigs of ram, and blu-ray player into a less than 15 minute build. Worked like a charm, first time go. Quiet, small, and surprisingly powerful. I've stress tested it pretty good so the power supply is holding up just fine,...

None so far - this case is too easy to work with. Bios is a little bloated but I guess I'm spoiled. Would really like to see this unit supported in XPC Tools.

Shuttle SG31G2S Intel Socket T(LGA775) Intel Core 2 Quad / Core 2 Duo / Dual-Core / Celeron 400 serial support Intel G31 Barebone - Retail

This is my third shuttle barebones purchase and the only problem I have had was an over burdened power supply and a friend falling it. This one is perfect, it's running a Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz overclocked to 3.0 GHz so stock cooling is sufficient. No...

Love it!

I haven't tried overclocking the system yet, but it appears easy enough to do so.

Installation is a snap. The box comes with a nice foldout pamphlet with color pictures, showing exactly how to plug the CPU and memory into the system. An experienced user should be able to fire up this box in less than half an hour. The system is...

It won't make me a sandwich! Actually, documentation is somewhat sketchy compared to previous XPC models. There is absolutely no documentation on BIOS settings, unlike previous models. I had inadvertently underclocked my E6750 (2.66 GHz) processor to a...

Shuttle fun!

Second shuttle I've built. Much easier the second time around. This computer was for my neighbor, paired it with a Intel core 2 duo E6550, 2gb of corsair xms2 6400 and Win XP. Took a lil more than an hour out of the box till I was sitting at the...

Runs very quiet. Like all Shuttles, the layout inside is very well though out and has good airflow for being so compact. Everything recognized on first bootup. Onboard graphics work nice, easily runs @ 1680 x 1050. Instructions are very easy to follow...

Power supply is only 250W, so if you are interested in gaming, you may want to look at the SP35P2-Pro.
