TEAC HDRM7250

TEAC's HDRM7250 is a feature-packed unit that sports a wide range of TV and recording options. While a sluggish interface and a prohibitive price tag ...

Huge hard drive, great range of connectivity options, plenty of features

Time-shift and recording functions are less-than-perfectly implemented

A powerful and expensive device, this unit is clearly aimed at advanced users, who will find themselves more than satisfied with its incredible range of features. Newcomers to the PVR market would probably be better served with a simpler model.

Terrible

Don't buy it. Waste of money, Stay away from Teac. Even the latest one gives heartache! My brother has had his repaired after 2 months.

None. Piece of garbage, hard drive replaced under warranty, now fan runs endlessly after turning off.

Everything. Unreliable, poor picture, lucky I've got a Beyonwiz.

Good

I've been tollerating the glitches in this unit for several years, but I recently upgraded the HDD to a 500GB 7200RPM drive and its working flawlessly now. It can record two HD channels and play a recording at the same time without losing one or both...

Best set of features... timeshift more than 24 hours.

Stock HDD is very poor performer and will cause issues. Doesn't have a wireless network adapter. 1080i not 1080p.

Bad

Great machine that the entire family can use - though we do not bother exporting recordings. Requires power off form time to time after freezing. Have been very disappointed with two failures in 12 months (last one was one week outside warranty period...

HD size, ease of recording, picture quality.

1. Needs to be able to extend recording to a specified time AFTER programme finishes when selecting from the programme guide (as our programmes rouinely run over by 10-15 minutes). 2. Two failures (HD and main board) in 12 months!!!!!

Terrible

Would not recommend this product. It drive me mad and worse still drives my wife mad - so i don't here the end of her frustration.

Fantastic feature set for the money will suck you in.

Very unreliable. Has had two hard drive failures, locks up and needs the power cycled. Poor pixelised recording if recording more than one channel at a time and/or playing back concurrently. Haven't been able to export files. Recording timers cannot be...

OK

After all the effort it took to get this unit working properly (UPS, masthead amp, new antenna) I couldn't recommend it and would be reluctant to buy Teac gear again.

Twin HD tuners, 250GB Harddisk, awesome picture quality when it works.

Quite a few bugs. Requires clean, well filtered power. Ugly remote with colour coded buttons - hard to use with a programmable remote. Export of programs to PC via the HDRM7250 always results in a 'failed export'.

Good

As of Feb 08, TEAC appear to have resolved most firmware issues that have plagued this unit and dropped the price below $600 making it a bargain buy considering the feature list.
