Samsung Captivate Glide review

The Captivate Glide carries on the legacy of Samsung's Galaxy S II, delivering a quality experience with the addition of a workable, slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

Overpriced for mid-range tier

Samsung Captivate Glide review: Thumbs ready

The Samsung Captivate Glide for AT&T Wireless is long overdue. The market is brimming of dual-core Android devices and the slide-out QWERTY packing Samsung Captivate Glide has only just arrived.

Quad-band GSM and tri-band 3G support ; 21 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA support ; 4" 16M-color Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with WVGA (480 x 800 pixels) resolution ; Android OS v2.3.5 with TouchWiz 4 launcher ; 1 GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2...

All-plastic body ; No dedicated camera button ; Lack of Galaxy S II branding, despite the eye-poking performance and software similarity

Samsung Captivate Glide review

Is this the best physical QWERTY phone on AT&T?

Physical Keyboard, Great Battery Life, Snappy Interface, Dual-Core, Vivid Screen

Only 1GHz, AT&T Bloatware, Slow "4G," Flimsy Battery Cover, Only 720p Recording

The Samsung Captivate Glide can be thought of much like a Galaxy S2 with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, though it doesn't get to carry the Galaxy S2 badge.

Samsung Captivate Glide review

Reviewing the Samsung Captivate Glide right after the Samsung DoubleTime is a study in contrasts. The DoubleTime is outdated, slow, and ugly, while the Glide is modern, fast, and sleek. The natural...

Solid keyboard ; Overall zippy performance ; Good call quality

Poor noise cancellation ; No LTE or Android 4.0 ; Unimpressive screen ; Incredibly slow camera

If you need a keyboard, there aren't many better phones available — for now

Samsung Captivate Glide (AT&T)

AT&T has plenty of smartphones, but it doesn't have plenty of keyboarded smartphones. Sure, there's the Sharp FX Plus (Free, 3.5 stars) and the RIM BlackBerry Torch 9810 ($49.99, 3 stars), but neither of those devices are particularly cutting edge....

Solid keyboard. Fast performance. Beautiful screen. Great battery life

Limited docking options

The Samsung Captivate Glide is the best keyboarded smartphone available on AT&T right now.

Samsung Captivate Glide (AT&T) review: Samsung Captivate Glide (AT&T)

Samsung Captivate Glide (AT&T)

The ; has high-end specs like AT&T's HSPA+ speeds, a dual-core processor, an 8-megapixel camera, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, and 720p HD video.

Samsung commits its typical plasticky sins with the Captivate Glide, and the phone is slippery despite the textured backing. The keyboard is too flat, and call quality was variable.

The Samsung Captivate Glide is one of AT&T's most powerful QWERTY smartphones, and at $150, it won't cost you an arm and a leg. However, the ultraflat keyboard may be more hindrance than help to all but the most dedicated keyboard enthusiasts.

Samsung Captivate Glide review

When it comes to releasing new devices, Samsung and the rest of the manufacturer bunch doesn't always aim for the top of the ladder - case in point, the Samsung Captivate Glide, a dual-core smartphone with a 4-inch Super AMOLED display and a slide-out...

This device is surprisingly high quality. There were only two moments when I had my doubts, one of them being when I put the battery in for the first time since the back cover is so very very thin, and the other when I first started to hit the power...

Samsung Captivate Glide Review

Before rushing to judgment, don't let its model name fool you for one bit, well, that's because the Samsung Captivate Glide isn't merely a rehashed device with a physical keyboard. Rather, it's a transitive smartphone that's tastefully modernized,...

Samsung Captivate Glide Written Review by Sydney

In a world where smartphone manufacturers battle over a few millimeters to earn the title of having the thinnest smartphone, there's just no place for a phone with a physical keyboard. The added bulk isn't as attractive as a phone that's a mere seven...

Beautiful Super AMOLED display; TouchWiz 4.0 with a newly refined look and feel; HSPA+ device; speedy performance with little to no lag; great battery life

Poorly designed physical keyboard; dull and uninspired hardware design; HSPA+ speeds were disappointing

Regardless of how well the phone performs in other areas, the main reason you're interested in it is probably the keyboard. The keyboard was poorly designed and difficult to use; therefore, I wouldn't recommend the Captivate Glide.
