BlackBerry Torch 9850 review

Monza. It's a beautiful part of Italy, a majestic park split by one of the most historic racetracks in the world, and it was also the codename for this

Solid, comfortable design ; Great call performance ; Bright 3.7-inch LCD

Mediocre on-screen keyboard ; BlackBerry 7 already feels dated ; Somewhat limited app selection

if you're down with BlackBerry for the long-haul, you could do worse than the Torch 9850.

RIM BlackBerry Torch 9850 (Verizon Wireless)

The BlackBerry Torch 9850 trades RIM?s excellent hardware keyboard for a subpar touch keyboard, and there still aren?t enough third-party apps available.

True world phone. Great battery life. Good Web browser. Solid music and video playback.

Mediocre voice quality. Clumsy typing experience. No 4G. Confused touch screen UI. Weak app market.

Multimedia, Camera, and Conclusions The microSD card slot and standard-size 3.5mm headphone jack make this a good music player, just like other BlackBerrys. In addition to the 4GB of internal storage, RIM throws in a 16GB microSD card, which is...

BlackBerry Torch 9850 (Verizon Wireless) review

RIM is once again making the rounds with its latest line of BlackBerry smartphones, with the Torch 9850 heading to Verizon Wireless after its initial launch with Sprint. The BlackBerry Torch 9850 marked a milestone for BlackBerry as the first-ever full...

The RIM BlackBerry Torch 9850 's svelte design and sharp screen give it consumer-level appeal. Features like 720p HD video capture, world phone capabilities, and an enhanced operating system are welcome. Call quality is good as well.

The Torch 9850 suffers from the occasional sluggishness, and there are times when the touch screen isn't as responsive as we would like.

The RIM BlackBerry Torch 9850 for Verizon Wireless is a laudable midrange smartphone, but it faces stiff competition.

RIM BlackBerry Torch 9850 (Sprint)

The BlackBerry Torch 9850 falls short of the expectations raised by its big, bright touch screen.

Well designed. World phone. Sips data.

Touch keyboard can be difficult to use. Few apps. No 4G.

Like other BlackBerries in its family, the Torch 9850 is a global phone. It comes with a Sprint SIM card that offers relatively high roaming rates abroad. If you're adventurous, the SIM card slot is unlocked, so you can replace it with a local card....

BlackBerry Torch 9850 review

The BlackBerry Torch 9850 marks RIM's third attempt at a touchscreen-only phone with no keyboard. Though you might think of it as a Storm 3, RIM's gone with the newer (and arguably less infamous)...

Beautiful, bright touchscreen ; Good built-in camera ; Great, loud speaker

Terrible on-screen keyboad ; App selection is weak, many apps are incompatible ; Hardware buttons are poorly designed

I’m not quite sure who RIM had in mind when it designed this device

BlackBerry Torch 9850 (Sprint) review

Just when we were wondering when BlackBerry would end its smartphone dry spell, RIM announced not one, but four new smartphones for U.S. release, including the BlackBerry Bold 9930 and the full touch-screen cousin to the Torch, the BlackBerry Torch...

The BlackBerry Torch 9850 is a sharp-looking, dual-mode world phone with a good camera and offering 720p HD video playback.

Call quality, speakerphone, and general performance on the BlackBerry Torch 9850 hit some snags.

With its full touch screen and fair price tag, the BlackBerry Torch 9850 shows that RIM is ready to compete with others in Sprint's lineup, although it's not without its flaws.

BlackBerry Torch 9850 (Verizon Wireless)

As we've already mentioned in other BlackBerry handset reviews, BlackBerry App World is a disaster. It's arguably even worse on the Torch 9850, as fewer apps show up as compatible with this handset than on standard, QWERTY-equipped BlackBerrys...

True world phone. Great battery life. Good Web browser. Solid music and video playback

Mediocre voice quality. Clumsy typing experience. No 4G. Confused touch screen UI. Weak app market

The Torch 9850's touch keyboard isn't up to BlackBerry standards, and its app market isn't up to smartphone standards.

BlackBerry Torch 9850 (Sprint)

Press a button, and the bright-enough 3.7-inch, 800-by-480 screen comes on. The touchscreen is made of a warm, slightly convex plastic which is durable, but feels slicker and greasier than the touchscreens on many other competing smartphones.

Well designed. World phone. Sips data

Touch keyboard can be difficult to use. Few apps. No 4G

The BlackBerry Torch 9850 for Sprint is neither the carrier's best smartphone nor its best BlackBerry.

BlackBerry Torch 9850/9860 All Touch hands-on - Pocket-lint

We don't want to say it, but the new All Touch is basically the Storm with a different name. BlackBerry have clearly been careful to ditch the Storm tag

BlackBerry Torch 9850/9860 Review

The Torch 9850 is a solid, capable little smartphone, and BlackBerry 7's UI arguably suits the all-touch display most of all. With the 1.2GHz processor RIM's handsets no longer feel like the slowest devices in the pack, and while we'd welcome more...
