In the end, I think that the mouse itself, not the driver/software was the problem. I have moved on to another mouse. This was disappointing that the mouse lasted approximately 8 months of moderate use.

Buy from a trusted brand. Pay the extra money. It will be worth it. Also, don't go by paper stats/specs. Read reviews and look at pictures to be sure the mouse is right for you. You use a mouse a LOT, so it's best to get something you will really like...
