Sony VAIO F Series (VPCF127HG) notebook

The Sony VAIO F Series notebook is pitched at designers, artists, photographers and video editors who want a stylish notebook that has lots of speed and plenty of built-in features. You get a big, Full HD screen, a Core i7 CPU, 8GB of RAM, lots of hard...

Excellent screen, high-end mobile CPU, great keyboard, Blu-ray burner ;

Slow hard drive, preinstalled software can be bothersome ;

We just wish it had a 7200rpm hard drive rather than a 5400rpm drive, and that it had space for two drives in its chassis. We also wish it didn't come with so much preinstalled VAIO software. Sony means well, but all that software will do is annoy you...

Sony VAIO VPC-F237FX/B

The Sony VAIO VPC-F237FX/B is a potent quad-core desktop replacement laptop that targets multimedia buffs with a striking 1080p screen and special video- and music-editing software.

Impressive performance. Handsome 1080p HD screen. Spacious keyboard. Bundled multimedia software.

A mite pricey. Graphics fall short of full-resolution gaming nirvana. Too-short 30-day security trialware.

Sony VAIO VPC-F236FM

The Sony VAIO VPC-F236FM is a laptop powerhouse. You can rely on its Intel Core i7 CPU and Nvidia GT 540M to get the job done, from mid-level gaming to manipulating images in Photoshop.

Intel Core i7 CPU and Nvidia GT 540M GPU ensure that there are few applications it can't handle. Blu-ray player. Full 1080p HD resolution. WiMAX 4G broadband. Bluetooth connects wireless peripherals. Backlit keyboard. USB 3.0. Big 750GB hard drive.

Touchpad texture was uncomfortable. Mouse button needs work.

Sony VAIO F Series review

A heavy hulk that's capable of stunning 3D visuals

Crisp, high-resolution screen ; Blistering processor performance ; Very well presented

Lacks 3D graphics performance ; Heavy and bulky design ; Incredibly expensive

Alright, fancypants. You want a laptop of luxury, but you don't want an Apple MacBook? Not even a 17-inch MacBook Pro? You want 3D but a Zalman 3D monitor isn't for you? Fancy the sort of black plastic slab that your friends can only dream of owning?...

Sony VAIO F Series review

The portable Sony VAIO F Series just barely edges into the desktop replacement laptop category. It's modern-looking (that's not necessarily a good thing), with sharp angles, smooth lines, and a monochromatic minimalist look. It also fails to beat the...

Performance issues aside, the VAIO F Series isn't such a bad buy. Sure, you'll have to contend with Sony's extra software (such as its VAIO Gate dock), and the Firewire port is weirdly located on the front of the computer, but otherwise the F Series is...

Sony Vaio F Series

Excellent Sony build quality. Full HD, matte screen. Covers Adobe RGB gamut. Reasonably powerful specs. Comfortable wrist rest.

Colour shift is huge with no sRGB, only intended for colour experts. Multi-touch touch pad is awful. Terrible speakers for the size. Included software is mostly awful.

The Sony Vaio F is an Adobe RGB-enabled laptop that will appeal to a niche audience who understands why it costs what it does. Those who don't know what Adobe RGB is should be spending their dollars elsewhere.

Sony Vaio F-Series review

Sony finally releases a 3D laptop and it's expensively good

Great 3D technology, superb HD display, powerful specifications, brilliant all-rounder, good 2D to 3D on the fly conversion, nice chiclet keyboard

High price tag, average battery life, gamers will miss a dedicated high-end GPU

that's so invested in the so-called 3D revolution, Sony has taken its own sweet time bringing out its first 3D laptop. The Japanese technology giant has placed a big bet on 3D and has its own 3D production and content facilities as well as a big...

Sony VAIO F Series

I wouldn't go as far as to say I'm a Sony fan-boy, but I have been fond of the brand for many years having owned and reviewed several of their products across a wide range of applications. Therefore it's interesting to note that...
