Looking for a coffee maker with a thermal carafe (to do away with scorched coffee & carafes) and a timer, and having been pleased with the performance and functionality of Krups coffee/espresso combo unit that we had owned for 10+ years, the Krups FMF5...

Thermal carafe avoids scorching coffee, programmable timer, stronger brew setting for small amounts

After my Starbucks Barista Coffee Maker dispensed its brew all over the counter for the third time I decided it was time for a new coffee maker. There were three things the Barista had, which my new coffee maker had to have as well:
