Sony Ericsson Equinox

The Sony Ericsson Equinox covers the basics well, including great call reception and a receptive number pad. That said, the Equinox (available for $50 with a two-year T-Mobile contract; price as of 11/10/09) doesn't handle music, the Web, or multimedia...

Lightweight ; Receptive numpad

Poor user interface ; Substandard Web browsing

The Sony Ericsson Equinox is a very middle-of-the-road phone with solid call capabilities and mediocre Web and camera capabilities.

Sony Ericsson Equinox TM717 (T-Mobile)

The Equinox is a good, feature-packed flip phone for T-Mobile subscribers, but Sony Ericsson needs to start adhering to some industry standards.

Sharp looks. Good call quality and battery life. Excellent video playback.

Proprietary headphone jack and memory card slot. Ugly user interface.

Camera and Conclusions The 3.2-megapixel camera lacks both auto-focus and flash. Test photos were warm, extra-sharp, and surprisingly vibrant. The video recorder recorded sharp, well-balanced 480-by-360-pixel videos at 15 frames per second outdoors,...

Sony Ericsson Equinox TM717 - carbon black (T-Mobile) review

The Sony Ericsson Equinox is the first phone from the manufacturer to land at T-Mobile since the TM506 . In many ways the Equinox is a fitting successor; like the TM506 it has a thin flip phone design and it sports a similar feature set that includes...

The Sony Ericsson Equinox TM717 has a bright display, multimedia features, and decent call quality.

The Sony Ericsson Equinox TM717's external display and controls aren't easy to use. We continue to push Sony Ericsson to abandon proprietary ports and memory cards. Speakerphone quality is average.

The Sony Ericsson Equinox TM717 has potential, but its multimedia features are undermined by design missteps and a subpar speakerphone.

Sony Ericsson Equinox TM717 for T-Mobile

The Equinox TM717 from Sony Ericsson is a new flip phone available for T-Mobile subscribers. The design looks good despite being simple, but it fails to deliver at times in terms of practicality. Let's take a closer look.

There's also the additional Caller Tunes service, which will play a certain MP3, sound effect, or comedy clip that people will hear when calling you. I personally don't understand why people would choose this, as it's pretty annoying, but different...

Review: Sony Ericsson Equinox mobile phone

The Equinox is a very middle-of-the-road phone with solid call capabilities and mediocre Web and camera capabilities.

The flip phone is only 3.5 by 2 inches, and a half-inch thick when closed, which gives the phone a smooth, simple feel. The 2.2-inch screen is on the top shell, while the bottom shell has a concave touchpad, two context-sensitive tabs, the standard...

Peeling Paint

This is my wife's phone. We got it and the paint peeled after a few months. T-mobile would not replace it for peeling paint, but after a few more months it started having problems charging the battery, which T-mobile considered serious enough to...

Adequate phone.

Peeling paint. Battery charging problems.

Sony Ericsson Equinox

I can't recommend the Equinox because although they work and get the job done, it's not as easy to use as I expected. The screen takes awhile to catch up, meaning that when you open the phone the screen takes a moment to pull up.
